Description
SOX10 is a nuclear transcription factor broadly expressed in various normal human tissues, including melanocytes and breast epithelium. It serves as a valuable immunohistochemical marker for several neoplasms. High expression of SOX10 has been reported in malignant tumors such as melanoma, breast carcinoma, and gliomas, as well as in benign tumors like schwannomas. Studies indicate that SOX10 is detected in approximately 97–100% of desmoplastic and spindle cell melanomas and in all examined nevi. Additionally, expression is commonly observed in oligodendrogliomas and in a significant proportion of astrocytomas and poorly differentiated glioblastomas.
