Description
According to studies, the PTEN gene, which corresponds to chromosome 10q23, is a tumour suppressor gene. PTEN is a new tumour suppressor that controls apoptosis and the course of the cell cycle. 15–16 The PTEN gene may be mutated or deleted, which could lead to a novel signal transduction pathway associated with malignant tumours in humans. Research has shown that advanced breast tumours exhibit decreased PTEN expression. 15.
