Description
The SOX10 protein is a key diagnostic marker with widespread expression across normal human tissues, particularly in melanocytes and breast tissue. It plays a significant role in identifying various tumors, including malignant melanoma, breast carcinoma, gliomas, and benign tumors such as schwannomas. Studies show SOX10 expression in 97–100% of desmoplastic and spindle cell melanomas, as well as 100% of nevi. Additionally, it is detected in the majority of oligodendrogliomas and in a substantial proportion of astrocytomas and poorly differentiated glioblastomas.
