Description
According to reports, DOG1 antibody expression is a very sensitive and specific indicator of gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) cells. DOG1 identified 11% more cases than CD117 in studies of GIST subjects with KIT mutations. Recent research indicates that DOG1 may be a useful target to help with the diagnosis and assignment of suitable treatment of GIST because of its location in the cell membrane, the fact that it is absent in most normal tissue, and the fact that it is present in the majority of GIST tissue. Compared to CD117, DOG1 expression is observed in fewer cases of mesenchymal and epithelial tumours, seminomas, and melanomas.
