Description
Numerous normal and malignant epithelial tissues express the high molecular weight cytokeratins CK5 and CK14. Malignant prostate tumours did not express p63, a homolog of the tumour suppressor p53, but it was found in the basal epithelial nuclei of healthy prostate glands. Prostatic cancer expresses the P504S protein, but normal prostatic tissue does not. Prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) can be diagnosed with the help of P504S and the basal cell markers CK5/14 and p63, particularly in cases with restricted tissues and difficulty.
